Here in Colorado we have finally reached peak tomato ecstasy.

I think for me it is truly a deep down, ingrained, hereditary love. Of tomatoes.

A gift of tomatoes is a treasure indeed. Hot off the vine.

Recently, from my plants and from my CSA share, I happily, gratefully gleaned purple Cherokees, Valencias, Green Zebras, Sweet 100’s, old-fashioned cherry, pink brandywine, German striped and sungold tomato varieties.
Yes, I’ve reached that yearly stage of tomato nirvana. You know?
So, on an inspirational late afternoon, I did this:

So simple, so quickly prepared, so very great.
Heirloom Tomato, Basil and Goat Cheese Tortilla Pizzas
Choose the freshest best of all ingredients, as we always strive to do, and this will be over the top wonderful.
- heirloom tomatoes
- small, fresh corn or otherwise tortillas
- your favorite fresh goat cheese
- fresh basil
- a spicy red chili, such as serrano or Thai
- a grind or two of fresh pepper
Spread goat cheese on the tortillas and bake at 350 degrees until crisping up and melty. Pull from oven and arrange sliced tomatoes, basil leaves atop. Scatter a few thin slices of chili pepper, then a generous grind or two of pepper. Gaze at delightfully, then serve them up, as always, with a beaming smile.

And I leave you with a tomato haiku:
Salsa, concasse
ketchup, paste: tomato juice
smeared, over my face
With love.
