I am so thrilled to share with you – my longggg term dream is becoming a reality!
Dear Readers and Friends, Gluten Free Eaters and Pachamama Lovers,
My first job getting paid to cook was 41 years ago at a little diner in Iowa City, Iowa. From then to now there has been a whole lot of living, from years spent in restaurant kitchens, bakeries, in catering, and cooking classes, growing gardens, preserving food, meeting farmers, immersive trips to Ecuador – and creating recipes … lots and lots of recipes. Back in the ’90’s, as well as a couple of years ago, I wrote cookbook proposals and sent them out and received great feedback … along with all the kind rejections. 🙂 Then a few months ago I couldn’t sleep one night, so I got out of bed, stirred restlessly about the house and kitchen, and several hours later had followed some full-throttle energized inspiration to discover an online self-publishing company and create the cover for my book – here’s a hint of the layout below:
Pachamama’s Beautiful Food
magical recipe alchemy and love affair with the earth
From original poetry celebrating Mother Earth – “Pachamama” in the Quechuan language of South America – to quadruple coconut chocolate pancakes with sour cherry honey, grilled endive and asparagus soup with fresh peas and blue cheese, roast golden beet carpaccio with walnut sherry vinaigrette, bison and apple stew pommeau served in a pumpkin, and chocolate mascarpone tart with Frangelico grilled figs
plus a story or two served alongside, Colorado chef Margaret Gilfoyle invites you
on a delicious journey through her home kitchen and gardens. Serving up 77 favorite recipes from over 25 years of professional chef and cooking life.
“What a gift you give me, every time you offer up a seat – at the table in your heart.”
It has been such a joy, choosing the recipes, the photographs, the stories I am going to share with you. As well as re-testing those recipes and setting up food photo shoots! …
If you’ve been following this blog awhile, you know I love to garden, support local farmers, celebrating good food that is gluten free. If you’ve been to one of my parties, you know that entertaining and creating delicious spreads is a heart opening adventure for me, every time. The book will be a lovely 8×10 inch soft cover volume, with full color photographs through out on premium glossy paper. All of the recipes are gluten and/or grain free, and feature celebratory dishes for both special occasions and every day – from breakfast to dessert. I cannot wait for you to see it!
